These are the top 10 myths that are being fed by well-known coaching centres. Most parents and

children believe these myths to be true and make their life miserable during 11th and 12th years.

1. Preparation for JEE/NEET means solving lots and lots of questions from old question papers.

2. Conceptual understanding is not needed for MCQs.

3. Practice of derivations, explanations and diagrams are not needed for these exams.

4. Preparation for solving MCQs is different from actually solving the problems step by step.

5. Preparation for competitive exams decreases your ability to ace the board exams.

6. Student has to stop every other activity (sports, recreation and general learning) in order to

ace these exams

7. JEE/NEET mock exams should start from day 1 (of 11th std).

8. One who gets top ranking in these exams knows the subject inside-out.

9. Teachers who teach for these exams cannot teach for board exams and vice versa.

10. One has to be extraordinarily brilliant and hard-working to ace these exams.
